This year is my 4th year as the Varsity volleyball coach.
I have been involved with athletics since childhood. I played
volleyball in high school and at Muskegon Community College. I have
been coaching volleyball for 12 years.
I love seeing the mental and physical growth that each player makes as
the season progresses. I love the Pentwater school system and look
forward to helping these girls reach their potential!
I also teach spinning classes at Ludington Spin and Yoga, coach at
CrossFit in Ludington and wait tables at Jamesport Brewing company. In
my spare time, my husband Chad and I chase our 14-month daughter Chloe
Coach: Laura Sponhauer
I’m happy to join the falcon community this year as the JV volleyball coach. I’ve enjoyed being part of the athletics since childhood and I’m looking forward to sharing this passion with this year’s players. In high school, I competed in basketball, softball, and volleyball. I continued my passion for volleyball into college at Finnlandia University. This is my first year coaching. I also substitute teach at local schools and wait tables at Big Hart Brewing Company. When I’m not working, I am busy playing and training my new husky pup Lewis.
Varsity Cross Country
Coach: Erika Fatura
Athletics have been a lifelong passion of mine. In high school, I participated in basketball, volleyball, and track. I have been coaching on and off for the past 14 years. While I have coached a variety of sports, most of my experience is in coaching track and field. This is my third year as the varsity and middle school cross country coach. As a teacher in the district, coaching allows me to connect with students outside of the classroom. My goal for athletes is for them to experience the many benefits of running and the excitement of being a part of the running community. I started running about four years ago and just recently completed my 59th race. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. I am thankful for my supporting family including my husband Derek, son Logan and daughter Allie. I am looking forward to a cross country season full of fun, personal bests and a new appreciation for the sport of running.
Coach: Miguel Quinteros
I am proud and excited to be the Varsity Soccer Coach for Pentwater Public School for my second year. I am originally from El Salvador, a country where soccer is not a sport, it is a religion. Growing up in El Salvador I had no other option but to play soccer. I started playing soccer at a very young age. I am excited to have the opportunity to pass on to my team my love, dedication, knowledge, and experience of the sport. Last year my team proved to be passionate, perseverant, and coachable. I am eager to a new season and to continue coaching my Falcons!
I am a teacher in Pentwater Public Schools. I graduated with a major in Social Studies and a Computer Science minor from Baker College of Muskegon. I also recently finished my Spanish endorsement from Grand Valley State University. Currently, I teach middle school Social Studies, middle and high school Computer Science and 6th grade Spanish. During my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two boys and with my wife. I also enjoy playing the guitar and singing. Whenever I get a chance, I always enjoy watching a good soccer match.
Junior High Soccer
Coach: Daniel Pena
I am the JH Soccer Coach. I was taught that playing sports is all about having fun. I learned that winning and losing is part of the game and I believe it’s important for young athletes to understand that too. I have played soccer for about 20+ years and have enjoyed coaching for our local recreational programs as well as for Pentwater Public School. Both as a coach and person, I will always continue to place all of my energy and effort in doing the best I can, to ensure our student/athletes have a memorable experience. In my spare time, I like reading and playing my acoustic guitar.
Junior High Volleyball
Coach: Greg Chye
I am excited to be the new Junior High Volleyball coach at Pentwater. I have been a coach for over 10 years and I am going give volleyball a try! I will have a strong team which won our conference last year. I am looking forward to the growth of my volleyball players and myself as a coach.
My motivation for coaching is to give back to my community that I live in and support. For me, this means giving what talents I have to encourage and motivate players. I want students to become the best potential student-athlete they can be. Success can be shown through learning, effort, dedication, and improved skill level. Along the way we should have fun!
