Pentwater Quizbowl Middle School division went to Hart Middle School for their 1 competition of the year. We put together 2 teams to play against Walkerville and Hart who both also put up 2 teams. We came in second in a close final match of a difference of 10 points which is 1 question. I am SO proud of them!

Our high school band has had a busy couple of weeks with MSBOA festival and a home performance, especially some of our juniors in the band. Abie, Mackenna and Eliana received a 1 rating at solo and ensemble which earned them an invitation to All Star Band hosted at McBain where they performed with 82 other musicians and a wonderful guest conductor. Additionally, Saturday, 3/18, was the State level of Solo & Ensemble where musicians are held to an even higher standard. Abie VanDuinen performed his trombone solo, “Maid of the Mist” and received another division 1 superior rating! A special thank you to Diane Larson for being our piano accompanist for both S&E performances. Way to go, Falcons! We are very proud of your hard work and dedication to the musical arts!

The Book Swap is Coming!

Mrs. Leona Ashley with Win With Wellness educated all the elementary students with Be smart, don’t start: A tobacco prevention program. Did you know that cigarettes contain 600 chemicals that convert to 7000 when lit! E-cigarettes are marketed to children with fun flavors and may cause irreversible lung damage. Mrs. Ashley showed us an example of healthy lungs vs. smoker lungs.

The 4th grade class enjoyed an amazing DTE/Consumers Energy presentation on Tuesday, 3/14, about "Think Energy!" The class learned about renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Each student also received a take home energy kit filled with materials to help encourage families to reduce energy and save on monthly energy bills. Thank you to our presenters for their amazing interactive presentation!

"Our high school band here at Pentwater performed at MSBOA District 1 festival hosted by Manistee High School today on March 8th and took home an overall Division 2 (excellent) rating! The high school band has not been to festival since pre-covid and most of the students have not been to festival at all. In addition, they scored a 1 (best) rating for sight reading which is arguably the hardest part of the festival performance. It is a huge achievement for our band and we cannot wait to take them again next year. So congratulate the HS band for their hard work next time you see them!", Mr. Rodriguez. We are incredibly proud of our musicians and our Band Director, Mr. Jesse Rodriguez, well done!

Congratulations to our JH/HS students of the month for February 2023: Breeya Mandarano (7th Grade); Aiden Henry (8th Grade); Lauren Davis (9th Grade); and, Michael Quinteros (11th Grade)! Well done!
