Pentwater Elementary Book Swap, February 28
Students can bring 1-3 books to swap for a new, gently used book. Books will be accepted until February 27. The book swap will take place on Friday, February 28, in Mrs. Voss’ classroom, room 101, during the school day.
When choosing books to bring from home, please remember:
Bring books that others would enjoy reading
Books should be age appropriate
Books should be in good condition
Pentwater Rec Director, Katie Anderson, will be in the front lobby today, Thursday 2/20 and Friday 2/21 from 2:45 to 3:15 to collect Spring Soccer signup forms and answer any questions students or parents might have about the season.
West Michigan Student Showcase 2020 will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19 at the Frauenthal Center in Downtown Muskegon. Pentwater student nominees and performances will take place on Thursday, March 19. This celebration of high school talent will include rock bands, classical pianists, an opera singer, dramatic skits, and yo-yo expert. Tickets in advance are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. All tickets at the door are $10.00. Tickets can be purchased at the Frauenthal Box Office and from etix via phone, 1-800-514-3849, or online at etix.com.

7th and 8th graders are learning and practicing European Table Manners in preparation for their Interdisciplinary field trip.

The Green Schools Club participated in a new project this year by collecting and donating mascara brushes to an organization called Wands for Wildlife. They are used at the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge to remove fly eggs and larvae from the fur and feathers of wildlife. Club members Aubrey Macintosh, Mikaylyn Kenney and Haley powers were the leaders on this project. A $25 donation was also made to the refuge on behalf of the Green Schools Club. Christopher Jeruzal came to talk to Mrs. Fatura‘s STEM class today about his careers in mechanical engineering and data analysis. It was exciting to learn about his educational background, work experiences and many passions related to STEM. Thank you Christopher for sharing your advice and exposing our students to many career options.

Members of the Pentwater Green Schools Club recently put together an eco-friendly basket to raffle. The proceeds were donated to the Australian Red Cross to help with the relief efforts after the wildfires. It was the idea and passion of Anna VanDuinen, Evalena Jeruzal, Cassie Cormany and Aubrey Macintosh! A total of $100 was donated and the winner of the basket was Makaylah Cornelisse, a senior at Pentwater. So proud of these students for having an idea and following it through with great success!
Students in Mrs. Fatura’s advanced chemistry class taught a chemistry lesson to Mrs. Macher’s 3rd grade class for Valentine’s Day. They used observations, questioning, inquiry and experimentation to figure out the chemistry behind a popular valentines novelty item called “wack-a-packs” in which a heart-shaped balloon pops out of a package after force is applied. It was a great way to show a real-world chemistry connection!
Final donations are in! K-12 art students raised $1,144.38 for the Pentwater Community Food Pantry!

Tonight's (Monday, Feb. 10th) JH Girls Basketball game vs. Mesick has been canceled.
The Region 13 Art Show Reception scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled due to school closings and road conditions, the reception scheduled for tonight will take place next Monday, FEBRUARY 17TH, 4-6 at the Artsplace in Fremont.
Pentwater Public Schools will be closed Monday February 10th due to poor weather and road conditions. Tomorrow’s activities will be determined and posted later tomorrow afternoon.
It was an awesome night as we honored Daria and her family to let them know that No One Fights Alone!
District Band Festival is right around the corner and we're so fortunate to have so many fantastic music educators in our area! On Friday, February 7th, 2020, the JH and HS Bands had clinics with Professor Ted Malt, the Director of Performing Arts at West Shore Community College. Thank you, Ted!
Reminder: Our Pink Out game is scheduled for Friday, 2/7/2020, at 6pm. The girls and boys varsity basketball teams will be playing versus Brethren. All proceeds from the games will go to help support the Daria Reitsma family to assist in Daria's battle with brain cancer. No one fights alone!
