We are excited to report that January 2025 is School Board Recognition Month! The key to a brighter future for Michigan's children is a strong public education system. Every day, students count on schools to help prepare them for a successful future. Whether they understand it or not, they count on adults to ensure that they have access to resources to help them learn, ensure facility safety as well as ensure that the district has qualified instructors and staff to guide them. It takes a pure, unwavering commitment to a community to make this all possible.
We recognize that one of the community's superheroes contributing to the success of our students are just ordinary citizens with extraordinary dedication to PPS - our school board members.
The job of a board member is to establish a vision for our education programs, design a structure to achieve that vision, ensure our school is accountable to the community and strongly advocating for continuous improvement in student learning. The job of a school board member is tough, the hours can be long and the thanks can be few and far between. We have to remember to take time to thank them for their untiring efforts.
Pentwater Public Schools wishes to take this opportunity to extend our year-round appreciation for these servant leaders at PPS: Mark Shotwell - President, Dr. Vaughn Thurston-Cox - Vice President, Kelsey Prescott - Treasurer, Laura Nugent - Secretary, Adam Lamb - Trustee, Ryan Williams - Trustee, and Amy Baker - Trustee!
Thank You!
Pentwater Public Schools' Administration, Teachers, Staff, Students and Community!

The Falcons faced the Lakers of Bear Lake tonight in a battle for 1st in the WMD conference. The Lakers were undefeated ( 5-0 overall, 3-0 in conference) and the Falcons only had one loss. The stage was set and the Falcons were ready to redeem themselves after a buzzer beater loss in the previous game. The first quarter was a back and forth battle. Bear Lake drove the basket hard on several attempts but the Falcons nudged their efforts with TEAM offense led by Trey Johnson. Trey was able to find a 3 from outside and a bucket while finishing strong from the line 2/3. Kaleb Brown also started to connect with his shooting, knocking down a 3 and a putback from underneath. The Falcons had a slight lead end of the first,19-15. The second quarter the Falcons dominated. Defensively banding together as a unit, the team forced several turnovers that fed their transition offense. Jonny Arnouts navigated through several Lakers and found his tear drop shot, connecting three times for 6 points. Mikey Carlson had a hot hand from 3 sinking two baskets and finding a bunny inside. Kaleb Brown, Abram Kieda and Nathan Macher all contributed offensively as well to give the Falcons a 42-26 lead at half. The second half Bear Lake matched the Falcons in scoring in the third and nudged a slight scoring advantage in the fourth, but it was no match for the over ten point lead the Falcons created. Kaleb Brown had a monstrous half defensively, and scored 8 points off offensive rebounds! Abram knocked down 4-6 free throws as Bear Lake tried to claw back their way into the game. With a supportive fan base cheering for them, the chemistry of the Falcons upset the Lakers 79-66. In Mrs. Fatura's forensic science class, students engaged in an exciting hands-on project by creating fingerprint ornaments using the super glue fuming technique. This method involves a chemical reaction between the super glue and the organic compounds present in latent fingerprints, resulting in a white impression of the print.
After revealing their unique fingerprints, students creatively decorated them, adding a personal touch to their masterpieces. This activity not only provided a fun and enjoyable experience but also served as an effective way to learn about an important forensic technique while fostering their artistic talents.
