Will also hit many shots to add an additional 11 points. The second half was a slow start for the Falcons. Mrs. Fatura’s 9th and 10th grade physical science class started a unit on forces and motion by competing in a paper football challenge. Each student or pair of students, had to follow instructions to make a paper football. Then, tests were conducted and data was collected on which of three possible methods of flicking produced the furthest flight as well as how adding paper clips affected the performance of the football. The winning flick was 165 inches (13.75 feet) by Logan Fatura! It was a fun activity and coincided well with the Super Bowl this weekend!

Thursday was "Chinchilla Day" in the art room with Marley the chinchilla and her owner, Miss Gracie Powers! First grade and Kindergarten artists got to observe, pet and draw pictures of Marley while they listened to an informative presentation. Thank you Miss Gracie!

Saturday night basketball games... What a game it was. The Falcons were faced with a lot of adversity prior to traveling to Baldwin. Sickness, injury and adaptations to teams led us into the tied, 1st place in conference matchup with many adjusted goals.
The JV were challenged first by playing the game with only 5 athletes. Every player gave it their best and earned a hard fought win without their point guard, Wyatt Roberts. Well done Gavin, Ben, Tyler, Bode and Brody. Roberts was asked up to varsity tonight to help balance a 6 player team varsity team to 7. Willing and able, he stepped up to the challenge with pride.
The Falcons opened the night with a slow start offensively. They had several attempts at the basket and missed several bunny shots. The defense never gave up and helped propel the Falcons offense to a 9-17 end of 1.
The second quarter belonged to the Falcons. Several Falcons like Will Werkema Grondsma, Jonny Arnouts, Kaleb Brown and Mikey Carlson hit several buckets down the stretch. This allowed for the Falcons to outscore the Panthers 13-9 and head in at the half down 22-25.
After a few adjustments at the half the Falcons found a way to out-rebound the Panthers in the 3rd. Will and Mikey led the charge with rebounds and Will Werkema Grondsma, Jonny Arnouts, Kaleb Brown and Mikey Carlson all balanced the scoring as well. The Falcons won the 3rd quarter and took their first lead 41-40. Kaleb Brown did am outstanding job guarding one of Baldwins leading scorers.
The fourth quarter was intense on both ends of the ball. The crowd was full of excitement as everyone anticipated the final stanza. The Falcons were not able to escape foul trouble with both Will and Jonny fouling out with minutes remaining while attempting charges and down only 3. The Falcons kept the game within reach by a 2-3 point margin until the final seconds. It was the Panthers that found victory being up four with only a 2 second remaining on the clock. This puts the Falcons behind the Panthers one game in conference now leading into a rematch in a couple weeks.
With great pride, we are all so proud of the purple and gold tonight! Thanks to all of the community that came to support your Falcons tonight.
