Pentwater Junior High Quiz bowl traveled to Hart Middle School on Thursday, 3/7/24, for our introductory competition to Quiz bowl and they did incredible! Pentwater won for the first time since Advisor Kelly Sisung began working with the JH students seven years ago, beating Hart Middle School. This is the first time Hart has fallen in about a decade; the last time being to Shelby JH. Pentwater beat Walkerville in the first four rounds. In the finals, the first round score was Pentwater 50, Hart 75; second round Pentwater 90, Walkerville 35; third round Pentwater 50, Hart 40; and in the fourth round Pentwater beat Hart 100 to 50! Each question is worth ten points with three bonus questions following that are each worth five points. Pentwater JH Quiz bowl team includes Ben Roberson (8th Grade), Abby Roberts (8th Grade), Adi Merten (8th Grade), Kyle Oomen (8th Grade), Shyra Bigsby (7th Grade) and Silas Jobbins (7th Grade). All of the students did amazing, with Ben answering nine initial questions and Abby answering ten. Shyra also answered one toss-up question. Our team came together to answer 20 bonus questions collaboratively. The JH Quiz bowl team is coached by teacher Kelly Sisung. We are so incredibly proud of their efforts and are glad that they had this initial opportunity to compete and show off their knowledge.
